Agile Business Analysis

Business analysis plays a critical role in the success of a project. This is even more evident in an Agile environment, where the process supports reduced development time and reduced defects.

Course Overview

This one-day course will introduce participants to the framework and theories of Agile and Scrum Methodologies. Students will discover the benefits of transitioning from a waterfall or traditional environment, and learn how business analysts, product owners, and other key personnel can impact the lifecycle of all. They will learn how to properly manage user stories from a theme level to an epic level to a user story level. Additional topics include product backlog, user personas, story slicing, non-functional requirements, and user interface design (mock-up screens). Students will also complete a series of hands-on exercises and simulations based on predetermined case studies.

Penn State is a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.). PMPs earn 7 Professional Development Units (PDUs). The class is taught by a practicing professional who has prestigious certifications, subject expertise, and a wealth of real-world experience, ensuring you’ll learn important, hands-on lessons.

Who Should Attend

This course is appropriate for all software c team members and business analysts, including project managers, team leads, development managers, product managers, architects, developers, testers, and software engineering, network, and hardware administrators. The course is also open to executives like CIOs and CTOs.

Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are awarded based on a standard of one unit per ten (10) hours of classroom contact.

DAWIA Continuous Learning Points (CLP) are awarded to NAVSEA employees based on the DAU standard of one point for each contact hour (21 CLPs per course).

Note: The University reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances.
